Frequently Asked Questions about BOI Report Filing

A Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Report is a legal filing required through a new law called the Corporate Transparency Act.  BOI Reports provide more insight on companies and their ownership structures to the federal government to aid in anti-money laundering and illicit business activities.

Successful completion of the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) report varies depending on the complexity of the business.  That being said, most are able to complete in 5-10 minutes, and our team will handle the rest.

The BOI Report is broken down into 2 parts:  Information about the Company, and information about its Beneficial Owners.

For the Reporting Company, the following information will need to be collected

  • Full legal name of the business
  • Any trade name or “doing business as” (DBA) name, if applicable
  • Complete current U.S. address (No Post Office Boxes)
  • State, Tribal, or foreign jurisdiction of formation
  • For a foreign reporting company only:  State or Tribal jurisdiction of first registration.
  • Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) (including an Employer Identification Number (EIN)

The following information will need to be collected for each Beneficial Owner and Company Applicant*:

  • Full legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Complete current address
  • Unique identifying number and issuing jurisdiction from, and image of one of the following non-expired documents:
    • U.S. passport
    • State driver’s license
    • Identification document issued by a state, local government, or tribe
    • If an individual does not have any of the previous documents, foreign passport.

*a reporting company is required to report its company applicants if the domestic reporting company is created ON or AFTER January 1, 2024.

After you complete the FinCEN Filing Form, our operations team will begin to process your file.  They will perform the required due diligence and make sure your information is accurate and correct.  Then a licensed attorney will do a final review and file the BOI Report on your behalf with FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network).  You will then receive your completed BOI Report for you to keep for your records.  This process takes about 14 business days.
